The following sequence of pictures shows before the project . We will add another post with more pictures showing the completion, and the reasons we did it!
We have been supporting the Rainbow Centre for several years but this year was something special! Celebrating their 35th Anniversary this July, things outside were showing their age! The bridge was rotten and for safety reasons we dismantled it sometime ago. Then in the big storm just before last Christmas most of the dividing fence was blown down. Hambrooks Garden Centre kindly came to the rescue and replaced most of the long damaged section.
Rainbow tried to find a a company to donate the wood so we could rebuild the bridge. After waiting several months we asked to take control of everything. We struck lucky with B & Q at Park Gate who agreed to supply all the wood and fixings to replace the bridge and the remainder of the fence while Brewers Decorator Centre supplied all the colourful paint! (p.s. B&Q and Brewers also participate in the Easy Fund Raising sceme, just nominate Fareham Men's Shed as your preferred charity and they will make a small donation to us each time you buy online).
B & Q wanted to get involved helping with the painting of the 160 fence boards and frame so a date of 10th June was agreed and kept our fingers crossed for good weather!
