It has become apparent in recent weeks that a number of members have forgotten some of the basics regarding the use of, and/or cleaning procedures, for various machines. It was decided at the trustees meeting on 8th April, that a list of known trained members will be displayed on or adjacent to the major items of machinery in the workshop. If your name does not appear on the relevant list, please contact one of the trainers listed on the notice board and arrange a mutually convenient time for (re)training. Please refrain from using the machine in question until such time as training or refresher has been completed. Any other member whose name is on the list could be asked to assist in the meantime.
Unfortunately, due to a proposed change from paper to computer-based records some of the training records are not up to date. If you believe you have completed the training or refresher since the reopening of the Shed, please contact the person that trained you and ask them to add your name to the list and to notify the workshop manager so that records can be updated.
Plans are being developed for periodic workshop closures to facilitate specific training session. Details will be distributed, and sign-up sheets placed on the workshop noticeboard. Incidentally, recent Thursday afternoon training sessions have had very limited take up and several ‘no-shows’ of people that have signed up!
Should you have a pressing need to use a piece of equipment and there are no qualified trainers available ask somebody who has been trained to do it for you.
Trainers names are posted here and on the workshop and social area notice boards and will be updated as more trainers become available.
