We were pleased to be supporting the Macmillan Coffee Morning for our 6th year running. We knew that the pressure would be on us to get anywhere near last years total of £1,311! Even with so many negative things going on, energy prices, inflation and Mr Putin we asked our supporters to dig deep and dig deep they did with a fantastic total of £1.131!! Thank you to everyone!

We introduced a new competition last year, the Colin Mansbridge Challenge, which raised just over £200 so we had to come up with something new for this year. We had the usual cake competition and we decided on an upcycling competition. Members were invited to make something new out of items that had been discarded or not wanted any more. On the day we had nine entries for the cakes and seven for the upcycling. Visitors were invited to vote for their favourite in each category and once again our members excelled themselves with great entries! 62 votes were counted, Brian McCarthy won the upcycling with a table made from decommissioned gun butts and an old kitchen bin. Chris Hodgson won the cake competition with his caramelised apple cake, however the entry that received the most comments was Thommo's cherry cake displayed in what can only be described as a hat box with very colourful red, white and blue ribbons around it.

Fareham CO-OP Funeral services donated a superb hamper so we ran a separate competition rather than just add it to the list of raffle prizes. Thank you CO-OP, that raised almost an extra £60!!

We got somebody to part fill a 4 pint milk bottle with water and visitors could pay £2 and try and guess the weight in grams. That really did confuse a lot of people as they could only relate to pounds and ounces but one clever person guessed spot on at 1730 grams or a smidgins over 61 ozs, 3lb 13 ozs, 0.27 stones or approximately 4 footballs. The morning concluded with the cake and upcycling competiton entries being auctioned and the drawing of the raffle which had over 25 prizes.

Thank you to everyone that attended or helped but a special thank you to the 3 ladies that served us all morning with cake and big smiles, Linda Crane, Marion Hewins and Sue Hellyer-Kinch and of course the following businesses and individuals who made donations.
